Description:
LAMP WITH FACILITATED INSTALLATION AND FALSE CEILING PROVIDED WITH SUCH LAMP

The present invention relates to a lamp with facilitated installation and a false ceiling provided with such lamp.

Nowadays false ceilings are widespread, especially in public spaces and in offices, and are made with frames of longitudinal members and cross- members that act as a supporting structure for modular panels.

In such case lamps are used for the linear lighting of interiors, and are installed on the false ceiling, typically flush-mounted or mounted on the outside of the panels.

These techniques, although widely used, have the drawback of leaving in view lamp parts that are needed for the installation, with the result that they detract from the overall aesthetic impact.

The installation of these lamps is often not easy and is carried out at the end of the installation of the false ceiling, thus changing its appearance, and this also implies that the work has to be carried out in two steps, a first step of providing the false ceiling and a second step of installing the lamps.

The aim of the present invention is to provide a lamp that is capable of improving the known art in one or more of the above mentioned aspects.

Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a lamp that is an integral part of the false ceiling in which it is installed, while offering high levels of lighting performance and reduced glare.

Another object of the invention is to reduce the provision times of a modular false ceiling complete with lamps.

Another object of the invention is to facilitate the operations to install lamps in a false ceiling.

Furthermore, another object of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks of the known art in a different manner to any existing solutions.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a lamp that is highly reliable, easy to implement and low cost.

This aim and these and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter are achieved by a lamp according to claim 1 , optionally provided with one or more of the characteristics of the dependent claims.

The invention also relates to a false ceiling provided with such lamp, characterized in that it comprises modular panels and a frame of longitudinal members and cross-members, which acts as a supporting structure for said modular panels, wherein at least one of said cross- members is constituted by said lamp.

Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of the lamp according to the invention, which is illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings wherein:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the lamp according to the invention; Figure 2 is an exploded enlarged view of the lamp according to the invention;

Figure 3 is an enlarged detail of the lamp according to the invention;

Figure 4 shows a step of installing a lamp according to the invention;

Figure 5 is an exploded perspective view of a variation of the lamp according to the invention;

Figure 6 shows a portion of false ceiling provided with the lamp;

Figure 7 shows an element of the lamp according to the invention, in a possible variation.

With reference to the figures, the lamp according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 10, is with facilitated installation.

The lamp comprises a profile 11, preferably made of aluminum (extruded and anodized and/or painted), which supports lighting means 12 and, at the ends of the enlarged profile 11, means 13 of quick coupling to a supporting structure 14. In Figure 1 the lamp 10 is shown assembled and in the position for installation, while in the enlarged detail in Figure 2, at one end of the profile 11, its components are clearly visible.

The quick coupling means 13 comprise, at each end of the profile 11 , a tab 15 which protrudes from it and is adapted to be inserted into a slit 16 of the supporting structure 14, as can be seen in Figure 4.

In Figure 3 note that the tab 15 is folded onto itself substantially in a V-shape, which is adapted to deform elastically upon its insertion into the slit 16. Figure 4 shows a step of installing the lamp 10, during association with an element of the supporting structure 14.

Each tab 15 has a protrusion 17 on the surface (shown in the enlarged detail in Figure 3), with which it is inserted with snap-action into the slit 16.

In this example, the element of the supporting structure 14 with which the lamp 10 is associated is a longitudinal member 18 of a frame of a false ceiling 40 and the supporting structure 14 is the frame.

The profile 11 has the same width as the standard width of the cross- members of a frame for modular false ceilings.

The tabs 15 are conventional, already in use in the frames of false ceilings made with cross-members and longitudinal members, and they are provided by cutting and folding a plate-like metallic element.

The profile 11 has a cavity that accommodates at least partially the lighting means 12. These latter means comprise a series of LEDs 19 on circuits 20 which are conveniently mounted on a dissipating thermal ribbon 21. The circuits 20 are driven by an integrated driver 22, accommodated in the cavity of the profile 11. The lighting means 12 also comprise a diffuser element 23.

Each tab 15 has a portion that protrudes from the profile 11 and a portion for fixing to the profile 11 , which is inserted between two walls of the latter and is locked in place by way of a pair of grub screws 24, which pass through both the tab 15 and the two walls at special through holes, of which a pair of holes in the two layers of profile 11 is designated with the reference numeral 25 and the holes on the tab 15 are designated with the reference numeral 26.

The diffuser element 23 is constituted by a substantially plate-like and transparent or semitransparent solid body, which is juxtaposed edgeways with respect to the LEDs 19 and extends outward from the profile 11. It is preferably made of extruded PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate), worked by way of laser cutting and etching, for example to create parallel scoring on the outer surface of the face arranged opposite the face juxtaposed with the LEDs 19 and/or substantially circular etchings distributed on one or both of the faces of greater area, in the part protruding from the profile 11.

At the end of the installation, the diffuser element 23 is positioned substantially edge-on, protruding outward of the supporting structure 14, in order to obtain a bi-symmetrical lighting, as shown in Figure 6.

As can also be seen in Figure 2, the diffuser element 23 is conveniently provided with a recess, adapted to accommodate the portion of tab 15 inserted into the profile 11 and shaped substantially complementarily thereto, and it is fixed to the profile 11 by way of a third grub screw 28 that passes through both the diffuser element 23 and the two walls of the profile between which it is inserted, at special through holes, of which a third hole in the two layers of the profile 11 is designated with the reference numeral 29 and the hole on the diffuser element 23 with the reference numeral 30.

In a variation of the lamp, shown in Figure 5, the diffuser element, designated with 123, is constituted by a solid body that is substantially shaped like an upside-down T in cross-section and is transparent or semitransparent and is juxtaposed edgeways with its central portion 127, core of the cross- section, with respect to the LEDs 19 and extends outward from the profile 11. Its association with the profile 11 is similar to the version described previously and occurs by inserting and fixing its central portion 127 between the two walls of the profile 11. The diffuser element 123 is also made of PMMA, in this case preferably in an opal finish that acts as a screen, and has the same width as the profile 11 , in order to obtain a diffuse lighting in the space.

The same Figure shows components with the same reference numerals as the other version of the lamp 10, as they are similar.

It is also possible to use a diffuser element 223 of the type shown in Figure 7, which comprises a lens 241 with axial extension and preset curvature. The diffuser element 223 is associated with the profile like the previous diffuser element 123, by inserting and fixing its central portion 227 between the two walls of the profile.

The lamp 10 also comprises two plugs 31 which are adapted to close the ends of the profile 11 and from which the tabs 15 protrude, passing through the plugs 31 at special slots 34.

In particular, there is a plug 31 at each end of the profile 11 , with an opening shaped complementarily to the cross-section of the tab 15, from which it protrudes. The plugs 31 also conveniently have openings 32 through which the electrical cables are made to pass for the electrical connection to the mains power supply, and they are fixed to the ends of the profile 11 by way of screws 33.

Figure 6 shows a portion of lamp 10, in its first variation, after its installation in the supporting structure 14, a frame of a false ceiling 40, in place of a cross-member.

The lamp 10 substantially comprises a first portion 35 which remains concealed in the supporting structure 14 after its installation, and a second portion 36 which remains exposed after installation. The latter is constituted by two longitudinal wings 37 of the profile 11 and by a portion of the diffuser element 23, the portion protruding from the profile 11. The two portions, first 35 and second 36, are shown in Figure 1.

In the structure 10 in its second variation, the diffuser element 123 conceals, with the lower part, perpendicular to the central portion 127, the two longitudinal wings 37 of the profile 11.

As shown in Figure 6, the false ceiling 40 comprises panels 38 and a frame of longitudinal members 18 and cross-members 39, which acts as a supporting structure 14 for the panels 38, wherein at least one of the cross- members 39 is constituted by the lamp 10.

Use of the lamp according to the invention is the following.

The lamp 10 is easily installed in a false ceiling frame, or in general in a supporting structure with an element that presents a slit 16, by mounting it in the same, conventional way in which the cross-members 39 of a frame are mounted, i.e. by inserting the tabs 15 into the slits 16.

It is therefore easily to carry out the installation of a lamp with this structure.

The structure 10 completely substitutes a cross-member, i.e. a part of the frame 14, and it is therefore an integral part and a structural element of it.

In this manner the times for providing a false ceiling complete with lamps are reduced, because after completion of the false ceiling no other operations are necessary to install the lamps.

Once installed, the structure 10 is discreet, it being an integral part of the entire false ceiling, and substantially does not modify its appearance with its minimal impact.

In practice it has been found that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects, by providing a lamp that is simple to install, even in a false ceiling provided with a frame of longitudinal members and cross- members and with panels, and which becomes an integral part of it, without its performance being limited.

The invention, thus conceived, is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims. Moreover, all the details may be substituted by other, technically equivalent elements. In practice the materials employed, provided they are compatible with the specific use, and the contingent dimensions and shapes, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
