Abstract:
 A lane control device according to an embodiment is connected to a first vehicle detector, a second vehicle detector, and a first roadside wireless device. The first vehicle detector detects the presence/absence of a traveling vehicle. The second vehicle detector is disposed rearward of the first vehicle detector, relative to the direction in which the vehicle advances, and detects whether or not the traveling vehicle is present. The first roadside wireless device emits radio waves and thereby communicates with a device onboard the vehicle. The lane control device according to the embodiment also has a fault detecting unit and a control unit. The fault detecting unit detects whether the first vehicle detector is in a malfunctioning state and detects whether the second vehicle detector is in a malfunctioning state. The control unit changes the radio wave emission scheme used by the first roadside wireless device in accordance with the result of the detection made by the fault detecting unit, and thereby controls the start and end of the communication performed by the first roadside wireless device.
