Abstract:
Disclosed is a lapping tool for glass balls, comprising a first, circular, rotatably mounted lapping disk (2) and a second, stationary lapping disk (1) which is recessed in a segment-shaped manner such that the balls (6) that are located in the lapping gap (5) can be removed. The first and the second lapping disk are coaxially arranged and are provided with concentric grooves (12) on the circular surfaces thereof, which face each other. At least the face area of the stationary second lapping disk (1) is made of plastic. Also disclosed is a lapping method for glass balls, in which unfinished balls are inserted into the lapping gap between two circular lapping disks that are provided with grooves on the facing circular surfaces thereof, one of the lapping disks is rotated, and the unfinished balls are forced to perform a milling-down movement. The novelty of the invention consists of the fact that the lapping process is carried out in an oily environment.
