Abstract:
A laser beam scanning system (100) includes a light source (110), a projection (130), a micro-mirror (120), a controller (150), and a light detection module (140). The light source (110) generates a laser beam, and the micro-mirror (120) deflects the laser beam to create a scan trajectory on the projection (130). The controller (150) generates a control signal and a drive signal. The control signal turns the laser beam on and off, and the drive signal controls scan movements of the micro-mirror (120). The light detection module (140) is placed at a margin of the projection (130). The light detection module (140) includes a photo sensor (341) underneath a light-blocking top layer (342) having a slot (343) to expose the photo sensor (341). The photo sensor (341) generates a detection pulse in response to detection of the laser beam in one or more segments of the scan trajectory. The controller (150) is operative to measure a detection pulse width in clock cycles.
