Abstract:
This laser diode driving power source 100 of a laser machining device 200 that irradiates a workpiece 300 with a laser emitted from an LD 20 thereby machining the workpiece 300, is characterized by being provided with: a power converter 10 having a switching element and supplying a current to the LD 20; and a control unit 11 controlling the switching operation of the switching element, wherein the control unit 11 is set a value, as a switching period for the switching element, that is shorter than the value of n times the laser machining time constant, n being a value greater than 1, and the laser machining time constant being the value of the division of the surface roughness required for machining the workpiece 300 by the moving speed of the workpiece 300.
