Abstract:
As it becomes possible to produce a larger capacity and high-speed recordable optical disc, the recording signal has a higher frequency and a shorter pulse width. There is a drawback that when a laser is driven by a signal having a short pulse width and the rising time and the decaying time of an optical pulse become longer, the high speed recording to the optical disc becomes difficult. Therefore, when user data is recorded, a bottom drive current is set to a second bottom drive current value which is a current value equal to or less than a threshold value, so that the rising time and the decaying time of the optical pulse can be shorter, and the high speed recording to the optical disc can be performed.
