Abstract:
A laser beam is applied to surfaces to be welded to heat them, and welding between a metal member and a resin member or between a resin member and another resin member is completed, thereby providing an air-tight assembly. A laser beam is allowed to pass through a laser-transmitting resin and applied to a laser-absorbing material in contact with it to heat the latter, the heat then being used to fuse the laser-transmitting resin and the laser-absorbing resin. A laser-applying spot is moved to sequentially fuse and cure different portions. The upper portion (216) of a case (202) is made of a laser-absorbing resin, while the lower portion (218) is made of a laser-transmitting resin. With the case (202) fixed onto a laser-absorbing housing (200), a laser-applying position is moved along the side-wall (206) of the case (202) as much as one round at a constant speed while a laser beam is being applied to a contact surface (268) from an upper oblique direction external to the case (202) to complete welding. With a laser-transmitting-resin-made lid (204) fixed onto the case (202), a laser beam is applied to a contact surface (272) from the above to weld it.
