Title:
LATHE COMPRISING A MULTIPLE TOOL SUPPORT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/119087
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a lathe comprising a machine frame, a workpiece spindle unit arranged on the machine frame and having a workpiece receptacle for a workpiece to be held in a workpiece position, which workpiece receptacle can be rotationally driven about a workpiece spindle axis, a tool carrier, which can be moved relative to the machine frame and on which a plurality of tool receiving places for tools is arranged, wherein in order to improve said lathe in such a way that the lathe is as compact as possible, it is proposed that the tool carrier can be moved parallel to a movement plane extending perpendicularly to the workpiece spindle axis only in the direction of two movement axes perpendicular to each other, that the tools and the workpiece receiving places be arranged in such a way that the tool cutting edges of the tools are arranged in the direction parallel to the movement plane on a side of the tool receiving places facing the workpiece, and that only by moving the tool carrier in the movement plane can individual tools be selected from at least some of the tools associated with the tool receiving places and brought in the direction of the workpiece spindle axis into at least one machining position to machine the workpiece.
