A laundry identification system and a laundry identification method. The laundry identification system comprises: an intelligent terminal and/or a laundry treatment device, and a laundry identification apparatus provided independently, wherein the laundry identification apparatus is in communication connection with the intelligent terminal/laundry treatment device; the laundry identification apparatus identifies laundry information and sends an identification result to the intelligent terminal and/or the laundry treatment device; and the intelligent terminal and/or the laundry treatment device receives the laundry information identified by the laundry identification apparatus and stores same. A laundry identification module is provided independently and can be in communication connection with the intelligent terminal or the laundry treatment device, and stores the identified laundry information in the laundry treatment device or the intelligent terminal. Therefore, when a laundry treatment is carried out, after laundry information about the laundry is directly selected on the laundry treatment device or the intelligent terminal, the laundry treatment device or the intelligent terminal recommends a laundry treatment procedure, and the laundry treatment device executes the laundry treatment process according to the recommended laundry treatment procedure.
