An LCD device (10) is provided with a liquid crystal panel (21) having a display surface (22), a backlight (61) which, disposed on the side opposite of the display surface (22) formation side of the liquid crystal panel (21), irradiates the liquid crystal panel (21) with an illumination light, and a light-transparent type solar cell (31) which, disposed between the liquid crystal panel (21) and the backlight (61), transmits the illumination light generated from the backlight (61) toward the liquid crystal panel (21). The solar cell (31) has a photoelectric conversion layer (32) for photoelectric conversion using outside light transmitted through the liquid crystal panel (21), and a photoelectric conversion layer (42) for photoelectric conversion using the illumination light irradiated from the backlight (61). An energy-saving LCD device, as well as an illumination device unit and a solar cell used in said LCD device can be provided by means of such a configuration.
