Abstract:

A lead acid storage battery using a positive electrode grid composed of a lead-calcium-tin alloy and a negative electrode grid composed of a lead-calcium alloy or a lead-calcium-tin alloy. The lead acid storage battery is characterized in that among a strap welded and integrated to a negative electrode ear part, an inter-cell connection part and an electrode column, at least the strap is composed of a lead-antimony alloy. The lead acid storage battery is also characterized in that the negative electrode ear part is provided with a lead-tin alloy layer and the negative electrode active material contains carbon in an amount equivalent to 0.25-0.75% of the mass of the negative electrode active material after full charging.
