Abstract:
The present invention provides a leaning vehicle that makes it possible to suppress enlargement and to reduce maintenance frequency for a start-up lead battery. A leaning vehicle that comprises wheels, an engine, a start-up motor, a permanent magnet–type generator, a start-up control valve–type lead battery, and an electric double-layer capacitor. The wheels have a tread surface that has an arc-shaped cross-sectional shape. The start-up control valve–type lead battery has: an electrode that is structured to absorb a gas that is generated inside a container and thereby return the gas to an electrolyte; and a control valve that is for discharging the gas that is generated inside the container to the outside of the container. The electric double-layer capacitor supplies power to the permanent magnet–type generator when the engine is started. The start-up control valve–type lead battery is charged by power that is generated by the permanent magnet–type generator during combustion operations at the engine. The electric double-layer capacitor: is connected in parallel with the start-up control valve–type lead battery at least while the start-up control valve–type lead battery is being charged; and has an electrostatic capacity that allows the electric double-layer capacitor to be charged with enough power to start the engine at least once.
