Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a hexavalent chromium treatment agent capable of residing over an extended period of time in leather or a leather article and with which it is possible to stabilize and render hexavalent chromium harmless over the long term even when hexavalent chromium is included in leather or a leather article, and leather or a leather article having a hexavalent chromium content of less than 3 ppm through the use thereof. [Solution] The leather or leather article of the present invention includes at least: an organic compound (A), having a structure shown by chemical formula 1 and a hydroxyphenyl group, and having no aldehyde groups and carboxyl groups, that has the ability to act with hexavalent chromium and reduce it to trivalent; and trivalent chromium, the leather or leather article having a hexavalent chromium content measured as stipulated by ISO 17075:2008-02 of less than 3 ppm.
