Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an LED drive method which enables operation from low voltage to high voltage by widening an alternating-current input voltage range. [Solution] This LED drive method is characterized by: in a serially connected LED line having a power feeding end as one end and driven by a full-wave rectified pulsating current, connecting a plurality of different points of the LED line starting from the power feeding end with different LED drive parts, respectively, and operating a necessary LED drive part according to the instantaneous value of the pulsating current to control lighting of LEDs from the power feeding end to a point where the LED drive part is connected; and connecting an LED terminal at the farthest end of the LED line, when viewed from the power feeding end, with the drive part, and causing LED terminals to be conducting or shorted at one or more preset points of the LED line to control the number of lit LEDs according to the instantaneous value of the pulsating current.
