Abstract:
A lens unit with a simple structure, of low cost, and having less possibility of failure. The lens unit enables a camera to be thin when the unit is retracted and a lens surface to be protected. A camera with the lens unit is also provided. A lens unit (11) has a shooting optical system and lens protection means for protecting the object side surface of the shooting optical system. The lens unit (11) is characterized in that the shooting optical system and the lens protection means are driven by the same drive source, and switching is made such that, when either of the shooting optical system or the lens protection means is at position (A) on a shooting optical axis, the other is at a different position evacuated from the position (A).
