Abstract:
This library control device moves a desired recording medium from a magazine storing a plurality of recording mediums in a plurality of slots to a drive and reads and writes data. The library control device memorizes identification information of the recording mediums and identification information of the slots storing the respective recording mediums in association with each other. Upon detection of an abnormality in reading/writing data from/into one of the recording mediums, an operator needs to take the recording medium out from the magazine. At that time, the library control device rewrites the identification information of the slot that is memorized in association with the recording medium to be taken out to the identification information of a predetermined one of the slots, and moves the recording medium into the predetermined slot. This allows the operator to correctly take out from the predetermined slot the recording medium which has been detected as having an abnormality.
