Abstract:
Provided is an electronic cavity-ring-down light absorbance analysis device with which it is possible to perform analysis at very high sensitivity and high resolution. An electro/optical conversion element 22 is configured by including a variable-wavelength laser 18 that is a light source for outputting light having a fixed wavelength and a fixed output that are set in advance, and an optical modulator 20 that modulates the intensity of the light having a fixed wavelength and a fixed output from the variable-wavelength laser 18 in accordance with an electrical signal outputted from a light detector 26. Since it is possible to obtain a light pulse that is of a magnitude corresponding to the electrical signal and that does not experience any change in wavelength irrespective of changes in the electrical signal, an electronic cavity-ring-down light absorbance analysis device 10 that makes it possible to perform high-precision analyses at a single wavelength is obtained. This makes it possible to perform measurements at very high sensitivity and high resolution, such as detecting: changes in concentration, at the ppm- or ppb-order, of extremely small quantities of carbon dioxide gas, methane, dinitrogen monoxide, and other such greenhouse gases included in the atmosphere; and/or the concentration of hydrogen isotopes and oxygen isotopes included in water.
