Abstract:
Provided is a light control cell in which a resin is used as a base material for supporting an electrode part, and in which a seal material is firmly adhered to an alignment film. The light control cell is provided with the following: a pair of polarizing elements; a pair of electrode base material layers (27) that are disposed between the pair of polarizing elements and that each have a resin film (23) and an electrode part (25) fixed to the resin film (23); a pair of alignment films (29) that are disposed between the pair of electrode base material layers (27); a liquid crystal layer that is disposed between the pair of alignment films (29); and a seal material (32) that is disposed so as to be adjacent to the liquid crystal layer in between the pair of alignment films (29). At least a portion of the components making up the seal material (32) penetrate to an area in at least one of the pair of alignment films (29), such area being separated by 30 nanometers or more from the seal material (32)-side end surface of the alignment film in the stacking direction D of the pair of alignment films (29) and the seal material (32).
