Title:
LIGHT-DEFLECTING DEVICE AND LIDAR APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/126386
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An optical deflection device that simultaneously has an optical beam provided with high beam quality and a wide deflection angle range, and also has compatibility with optical integration technology enabled by silicon photonics is a silicon photonics device provided with a periodic structure for the index of refraction, (1) the optical deflection device being configured from a microstructure in which a light propagation part for propagating light is formed on silicon, and (2) the microstructure constituting part of the light propagation part is configured from two periodic structures: a periodic structure for expressing slow light and a periodic structure for radiating light. The microstructure formed on the silicon allows the light-deflecting device to be formed through the application of the optical integration technology of silicon photonics. The two periodic structures, which include the periodic structure for expressing slow light and the periodic structure for radiating light, make it possible to form an optical beam provided with high beam quality and a wide-angle range for deflection.
