Title:
LIGHT DETECTION DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/199642
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a light detection device which can increase a charge amount that can be accumulated in a photoelectric conversion unit. The present invention comprises: a semiconductor substrate; a photoelectric conversion unit which is formed on the semiconductor substrate, and generates and accumulates charges according to a light reception amount; a charge holding unit which holds charges generated in the photoelectric conversion unit; and a transmission gate which transmits, to the charge holding unit, the charges accumulated by the photoelectric conversion unit. In addition, the photoelectric conversion unit has a configuration including a p-type semiconductor area that includes p-type impurities and is continuously formed in the thickness direction of the semiconductor substrate, and an n-type semiconductor area that is formed in an area contacting the p-type semiconductor area, includes n-type impurities, and is continuously formed in the thickness direction of the semiconductor substrate. Here, the n-type semiconductor area has a uniform impurity concentration of the n-type impurities in the thickness direction of the semiconductor substrate. In addition, the transmission gate has a vertical gate electrode which reaches deeper than an end of the n-type semiconductor area from the surface of the semiconductor substrate, the end being positioned on the back surface of the semiconductor substrate.
