Abstract:
In the present invention, sensitivity to near-infrared light is improved and the deterioration of timing jitter characteristics is suppressed. An optical detector comprises a pixel region in which pixels having a photoelectric conversion unit are multiply arranged in a matrix, each photoelectric conversion unit comprising: a first semiconductor unit partitioned by separation parts; a second semiconductor unit provided closer to a first surface, between the first surface and a second surface positioned on mutually opposite sides of the first semiconductor unit, the second semiconductor unit including germanium; a light absorption unit provided to the second semiconductor unit, the light absorption unit absorbing light incident on the second semiconductor unit and generating a carrier; and a multiplier unit provided to the first semiconductor unit, the multiplier unit performing avalanche multiplication of the carrier generated by the light absorption unit.
