Abstract:
Provided is a thin-film light-diffusing element which can achieve low backscattering properties and high haze. This light-diffusing element comprises a first region which has a first refractive index (n1), a refractive index modulation region which surrounds the first region and has a substantially spherical shell-like shape, and a second region which is located in the refractive index modulation region on the opposed side to the first region and has a second refractive index (n2), wherein the following formulae (1) and (2) are fulfilled: (1) 0.0006 ≤ Δn/L; and (2) 10 ≤ (Δn)2×A×B ≤ 100 wherein Δn represents the absolute value (|n1 - n2|) of the difference between the first refractive index (n1) and the second refractive index (n2); L (nm) represents an average thickness of the refractive index modulation region; the unit of Δn/L is (nm-1); A represents the amount (in part by weight) of a material constituting the first region relative to the total amount (100 parts by weight) of the light-diffusing element; and B represents the amount (in part by weight) of a material constituting the second region relative to the total amount (100 parts by weight) of the light-diffusing element.
