Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel light emitting device which has excellent convenience, usefulness and reliability. The present invention provides a light emitting device which comprises a second electrode above a first electrode, with an EL layer being interposed therebetween, wherein: the EL layer comprises a light emitting layer and an oxidation resistance layer that is arranged on the light emitting layer; the EL layer has a lateral surface; a block layer is arranged so as to be in contact with the upper surface and the lateral surface of the EL layer; the second electrode is in contact with the lateral surface of the EL layer, with the block layer being interposed therebetween; and the oxidation resistance layer contains one or more substances that are selected from among oxides of metals in group 4 to group 8 of the periodic table of the elements and organic compounds having an electron-withdrawing group.
