Abstract:
Provided is a light-emitting device with which it is possible to reduce absorption of light by an electrode. A light-emitting device having a base and a laminate provided to the base. The laminate has a first semiconductor layer, a second semiconductor layer of a different conductivity type to the first semiconductor layer, and an active layer provided between the first semiconductor layer and the second semiconductor layer. The first semiconductor layer is provided between the base and the active layer. Concave parts are provided on the laminate on the opposite side to the base side. A low refractive index part having a lower refractive index than that of the second semiconductor layer is provided to the concave parts. The depth of the concave parts is equal to or less than the distance between the active layer and the surface of the laminate on the opposite side to the base side. An electrode is provided to the laminate on the opposite side to the base side.
