Abstract:
A light emitting device (1) has a tubular light emitting element (11) and a pair of bases (14) provided on both the ends of the tubular light emitting element (11). A contactor (24) which is electrically connected to the tubular light emitting element (11) protrudes from the base main part (22) of the base (14) perpendicularly to the tube axis of the base main part (22). A pair of retaining arms (27) extends from the base main part (22) on both the sides of the contactor (24) approximately parallel to the direction where the contactor (24) protrudes. The pair of the retaining arms (27) of the base (14) also serve as guards to protect the contactor (24) while the base (14) is not attached to a socket device (2), while the contactor (24) is transported and while the contactor (24) is attached to the socket device (2). Further, by engaging the pair of the retaining arms (27) with the socket device (2), the light emitting device (1) is held by the socket device (2).
