Abstract:
Provided are: a low-cost, energy-conserving light-emitting device having both uniform brightness and color while using a lens having a strong light-spreading power; a surface light source having this light-emitting device; a liquid crystal display device having this surface light source; and the lens arranged in the light-emitting device. The light-emitting device (1) has a plurality of light-emitting diodes (2) and the lens (3) that spreads light from these light-emitting diodes. The lens has an incident surface (31) that receives light from the light-emitting diodes having an optical axis as the center and a light-emitting surface (32) that radially spreads and emits the incident light. The incident surface has connected recessed surfaces; the light-emitting surface has connected protruding surfaces; and the lens has different refractive power in a first direction orthogonal to the optical axis and a second direction orthogonal to the optical axis and the first direction.
