Abstract:
Provided are a light-emitting device and a vehicle head lamp with which it is possible to form a luminance distribution while reducing design burden and cost. The light-emitting device comprises a light source having a light-emitting surface that emits a first wavelength of light, and a wavelength conversion unit that is disposed in an area covering all of the light-emitting surface of the light source and extending beyond the light-emitting surface, the wavelength conversion unit transmitting part of the light from the light source, converting another part of the light from the light source into a second wavelength of light, and outputting the first wavelength of light and the second wavelength of light as combined light.
