Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention relates to a light-emitting element, for example, provided with a layer forming a resonance mode. The light-emitting element is provided with a structure composed of a substrate and a semiconductor stacked body. The semiconductor stacked body includes a first cladding layer, a second cladding layer, an activation layer, and a resonance mode forming layer. The resonance mode forming layer includes a fundamental layer and a plurality of different refractive index regions. A laser light output region is disposed on one surface of the structure, and a metal electrode film is disposed on the other surface thereof. The metal electrode film includes a first layer that constitutes an ohmic contact with respect to the structure, a second layer and a third layer for reflecting light from the resonance mode forming layer, and a fourth layer for solder bonding. The third layer has a composition different from the compositions of the second layer and the fourth layer, and, with respect to solder material diffusion degree, has a diffusion degree lower than that of the second layer and the fourth layer.
