Title:
LIGHT-GUIDE ELEMENT AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/234782
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a light-guide element which is lightweight and which has a wide viewing angle, and a display device which uses the same. A light-guide element (10) according to the present invention comprises a monolayer light-guide substrate (11) and a diffraction layer (12) formed on the light-guide substrate (11). The diffraction layer (12) has a first diffraction grating (121) which is for in-coupling, into the light-guide substrate (11), of incident light that is incident on the light-guide substrate (11), and a second diffraction grating (123) which for out-coupling, to the outside of the light-guide substrate (11), of total reflection light that has propagated through the light-guide substrate (11). At at least one wavelength among a first wavelength (λ1) included in a 450 nm ± 20 nm band, a second wavelength (λ2) included in a 530 nm ± 20 nm band, and a third wavelength (λ3) included in a 630 nm ± 20 nm band, the first diffraction grating (121) achieves in-coupling of the incident light in an angle range of not less than 60° including the normal direction to the light-guide substrate (11). At said at least one wavelength, the second diffraction grating (123) achieves out-coupling of said total reflection light in an angle range of not less than 60° including said normal direction.
