Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a light guide element whereby incident light can be emitted with high utilization efficiency, and a wide FOV is obtained in AR glass or the like; an image display device which uses the light guide element; and a sensing device. The present invention for solving the above problem has a light guide plate and first through third diffraction elements, the first diffraction element diffracting incident light in two or more directions and causing the light to be incident on the light guide plate, the second diffraction element having a plurality of diffraction elements for diffracting light toward the third diffraction element, the third diffraction element causing light to be emitted from the light guide plate, and at least one of the first diffraction element and the third diffraction element having a liquid crystal alignment pattern in which the orientation of the optical axis of a liquid crystal compound varies while continuously rotating along at least one in-plane direction.
