Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a light intensity attenuator having a simple configuration using an electrical feedback circuit, and to provide an optical A-D converter using the light intensity attenuator, and a simple method for attenuating light intensity. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a light intensity attenuator (100) has a light attenuating section (1), a feedback circuit (2), a light input port (3), a first light output port (4), and a second light output port. The light attenuating section (1) has input light inputted thereto through the light input port (3), outputs first output light to the first light output port (4), and outputs second output light to the second light output port (5). The light attenuating section (1) generates the first output light by reducing the light intensity of the second output light from the light intensity of the input light corresponding to a control voltage (Vs). The feedback circuit (2) is connected to the light attenuating section (1) via the second light output port (5), and outputs the control voltage (Vs) that corresponds to the light intensity of the received second output light.
