Abstract:

Disclosed is a light oil composition which contains a low-environmental-load light oil base produced by using an animal/plant-derived oil-and-fat and a component derived from an animal/plant-derived oil-and-fat as raw materials, which has an excellent life cycle CO2 emission property and excellent oxidative stability, and which enables to reduce the content of an environmental pollutant such as dioxin in an exhaust gas. Specifically disclosed is a light oil composition which contains 20 to 80 vol% of a light oil base having a 90 vol% distillation temperature of 360˚C or lower, a sulfur content of 10 ppm by mass or less and an oxygen content of 1 mass% or less, wherein the light oil base is produced by contacting an animal/plant-derived oil-and-fat and/or a component derived from an animal/plant-derived oil-and-fat with a catalyst comprising a metal carried on a porous inorganic oxide under predetermined hydrogen conditions.
