[Problem] To be capable of inserting a lens into an internal space in a light quantity adjustment device, while suppressing increase in size in the radial direction. [Solution] A light quantity adjustment device (10) (Fig. 1) has: a base member (1) having a fixed opening (6), and light quantity adjustment blades comprising a light quantity adjustment section (3a) for adjusting the quantity of light that passes through the fixed opening and a supported section (3b) supported so as to be rotatable in respect of the base member. When the direction orthogonal to the opening surface of the fixed opening is the optical axis direction and the direction along the diameter of the fixed opening is the radial direction, the light quantity adjustment section and the supported section each revolve along a surface parallel to the opening surface in the light quantity adjustment blades, and a recessed space (S) facing the fixed opening is formed more on the inside in the radial direction than the light quantity adjustment blades, by an intermediate section (3e) having a slope towards the optical axis direction in relation to the opening surface, said intermediate section being formed between the light quantity adjustment section and the supported section such that the light quantity adjustment section is at a position in the optical axis direction separated from the supported section.
