Abstract:
The present technology relates to a light receiving element and a distance measuring system, which are capable of reducing the number of signal lines that output detection signals. The light receiving element comprises: a pixel array in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in a matrix; and a pixel drive unit which controls each pixel of the pixel array to an active pixel or an inactive pixel, wherein the pixel drive unit controls active pixels in units of spots including N × M pixels (N > 0, M > 0, where N and M are not 1 at the same time), and in the pixel array, L × L pixels are set as the one unit (L > 1), and one signal line, which outputs a detection signal to a plurality of same spot constituting pixels in one unit, is disposed. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a distance measuring system that detects a distance in a depth direction to a subject.
