Abstract:
The present technology relates to a light receiving element and a distance measuring system, which are capable of improving pixel characteristics while allowing a variation in a breakdown voltage of a SPAD. The light receiving element comprises: a pixel array in which a plurality of pixels are arranged in a matrix; and a pixel drive unit that controls each pixel of the pixel array to an active pixel or an inactive pixel. A pixel comprises: a SPAD; a transistor connected in series to the SPAD; an inverter that outputs a detection signal indicating the incidence of a photon onto the SPAD; a first transistor that is turned on/off according to the control of the active pixel or the inactive pixel; and a second transistor connected in series to the first transistor. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a distance measuring system that detects a distance in a depth direction to a subject.
