Abstract:
The present technology relates to a light receiving element and a range finding module, which are able to have improved characteristics. A light receiving element according to the present technology is provided with an on-chip lens, a wiring line layer, and a semiconductor layer that is arranged between the on-chip lens and the wiring line layer. The semiconductor layer is provided with: a first voltage application part to which a first voltage is applied; a second voltage application part to which a second voltage that is different from the first voltage is applied; a first charge detection part which is arranged around the first voltage application part; a second charge detection part which is arranged around the second voltage application part; and a pixel isolation part which divides the semiconductor layer at least to a predetermined depth at the boundary of adjacent pixels. The semiconductor layer is configured such that a third voltage is applied to the pixel isolation part. The present technology is applicable, for example, to a light receiving element which produces range information by means of a ToF method, or the like.
