Abstract:

In the present invention, light sources that emit multiple light beams having different wavelength bands including at least wavelength bands in the visible light region and infrared light region are illuminated at overlapping illumination times so that the multiple light beams having different wavelength bands including at least wavelength bands in the visible light region and infrared light region are projected on a bank note at overlapping times. Then, light-receiving components having band-pass filters, each of which allows only a light beams having a wavelength in a range corresponding to a wavelength band of a light source to pass, are employed so that the intensities of received light returning from the banknote and having wavelengths in ranges corresponding to the wavelength bands of the light sources are simultaneously acquired, and image data is formed on the basis of the acquired light intensities of the received light for each of the wavelength bands.
