Abstract:
Provided are a light-source device that emits a reduced bundle of rays substantially in the same direction as the optical axis of an incident bundle of rays, a lighting apparatus, and a projector. The light-source device includes: a light-source unit that emits a bundle of rays; and a reduction optical system that includes a plurality of optical elements and that reduce the cross section of the bundle of rays. Each of the optical elements has first and second surfaces and first and second reflective surfaces. Furthermore, each of the optical elements reflects an associated ray in the bundle of rays at the first reflective surface and the second reflective surface in that order through the first surface and then emits the ray from the second surface, thereby shifting the optical path of the ray in a first direction. The bundle of rays enters the reduction optical system along a second direction. First and second optical elements are provided in that order in the second direction. The first reflective surface of the second optical element is provided on the opposite side of the first direction with respect to the first reflective surface of the first optical element, or the second reflective surface of the second optical element is provided on the opposite side of the first direction with respect to the second reflective surface of the first optical element.
