Abstract:

A light source device (2) comprises multiple excitation light sources (4,5), multiple wavelength conversion members (12), an input unit (6) and a light source control unit (7). Each excitation light source (4,5) emits multiple rays of excitation light each of which comprises a different spectrum. Each wavelength conversion member (12) is disposed in a common irradiation area in each of the rays of excitation light and wavelength-converts each ray of excitation light emitted from the excitation light sources (4,5) into light with different spectrums. The light source control unit (7) is capable of switching the combinations of excitation light sources that illuminate out of the multiple excitation light sources (4,5) on the basis of observation modes composed of a normal light observation mode which is input from the input unit (6) and a special light observation mode for highlighting a specific observation target. With light emitted from each wavelength conversion member (12) being an illumination light, the light source device (2) emits the illumination light that corresponds to the observation modes from the same emission unit.
