Disclosed are a display device and an illumination device, wherein it is possible to reduce the size of the device by using a plurality of light sources emitting light of two or more wavelengths. A red laser (11R), a green laser (11G), a blue laser (11B), a microlens section (116) and a microprism (117) are integrated on a substrate in a light source unit (11). Each laser beam emitted from each laser light source passes through the microlens section (116) and enters the microprism (117). The optical path of each incident light is converted at the microprism (117) such that the distance between the optical paths becomes shorter (the optical axis of each incident light becomes closer to one another). As a consequence of the aforementioned integration, it is possible to synthesize the optical path of each laser beam by using a micro-scaled microlens section and microprism.
