Abstract:
A light unit, a backlight, a front light, and a display in which sufficient light impinges
even on the end portion of a display region without having a complicated structure
and occurrence of uneven brightness in a display is suppressed by irradiating the
entire display region uniformly with a sufficient quantity of light. The light
unit comprises a light guide plate, and an array of a plurality of light sources arranged
opposite to at least one side face of the light guide plate, wherein one or more
of the light sources at least at one end are located on the laterally outside of
the display region. The light unit is suitably employed in a side light type backlight
or front light.
