Abstract:
A lighting device configured by attaching lamps to a chassis using lamp holding devices, wherein the breakage of the lamps due to the deflection or the bend of the chassis is prevented or less likely to occur. A backlight device (10) is provided with linear cold-cathode tubes (15) which are arranged side by side, a chassis (13) in which the cold-cathode tubes (15) are contained, and lamp clips (20) which attach the cold-cathode tubes (15) to the chassis (13). If the length of the chassis (13) in the direction of the axes of the cold-cathode tubes (15) is X, the lamp clips (20) are disposed in the portions of the chassis (13) which are each separated by a distance of 0.125X or more from each of both ends of the chassis (13) which are located at both ends of the cold-cathode tubes (15) in the axial direction thereof.
