Abstract:

In the present invention, a backlight device (lighting device) 12 comprises: an LED (light source) 17; a light guide plate 19 having a light entry edge surface 19b that is at least a portion of the outer peripheral edge surface and where light from the LED 17 enters, and a light exit plate surface 19a, which is either among a pair of plate surfaces, wherefrom the light exits; a wavelength conversion part 20 disposed in such a form as to be intercalated between the LED 17 and the light entry edge surface 19b, containing a phosphor for converting the wavelength of the light from the LED 17, and provided as a single body on the light guide plate 19 in such a form as to be in direct contact with the light entry edge surface 19b.
