Provided is a lighting device that creates a variety of lighting scenes while suppressing glare. The lighting device comprises: a light source device, a first light guide plate having a first light incident end surface for incident light from the light source device, a second light guide plate having a second light incident end surface for incident light from the light source device, and a low refractive index layer that is arranged between the first light guide plate and the second light guide plate and has a refractive index smaller than those of the first light guide plate and second light guide plate, wherein the first light guide plate has a first main surface opposite to the low refractive index layer, a second main surface facing the first main surface, and a first light emitting portion provided on the first main surface; the second light guide plate includes a third main surface located on the side opposite that of the second main surface with the low refractive index layer interposed therebetween, a fourth main surface facing the third main surface, and a second light emitting portion provided at an end portion on the side opposite that of the second light incident end surface; and the light source device is configured to be capable of adjusting the light incident on the first light incident end surface and the light incident on the second light incident end surface.
