Abstract:
In this invention, a plus-charge region formed around a lighting protection device is reduced as much as possible to effectively suppress the occurrence of an upward streamer. The invention comprises: a grounded inner electrode body 2; an outer electrode body 3 provided in such a manner as to encapsulate the inner electrode body 2 while leaving a predetermined gap G therebetween; an electric insulator S that is provided in the gap G and holds the inner electrode body 2 and the outer electrode body 3 in an electrically insulated state; and a support for the inner electrode body. The inner electrode body 2 is formed to be approximately spherical. The outer electrode body 3 is formed to have a spherical shell shape that assumes a similar shape to the outer surface shape of the inner electrode body 2. The outer electrode body 3 covers nearly the entire surface of the inner electrode body 2.
