Abstract:
A lightning arrester having external series gap and a lightning protection system. The lightning arrester comprises an arrester main component (1) and an arc-extinguishing gap structure (2) which are connected in series, wherein the arc-extinguishing gap structure (2) comprises an insulation sleeve (21), arc-extinguishing electrodes (22), and isolation air chambers (23). The multiple arc-extinguishing electrodes (22) are disposed side by side at intervals in the insulation sleeve (21), and an isolation air chamber (23) is provided between any two adjacent ones of the arc-extinguishing electrodes (22). A first end and a second end of the insulation sleeve (21) are respectively provided with a connection flange (24). Air ejection ports (25) are provided on the insulation sleeve (21), and correspond one-to-one to the isolation air chambers (23) and communicate with the same. The air ejection ports (25) expose the arc-extinguishing electrodes (22) and the isolation air chambers (23), such that multiple air gaps in series are formed between adjacent ones of the multiple arc-extinguishing electrodes (22).
