Abstract:
This linear drive device comprises: a first and a second plate member; a linear motor that is disposed between the first and the second plate member and moves the first and the second plate member relative to each other in a first direction; a pair of rails that are fixed to the first plate member and extend parallel to each other; and a pair of sliders that are mounted to the second plate member and are provided so as to be capable of sliding along the pair of rails. The linear motor is disposed between the pair of rails and comprises: a magnet row formed from a plurality of permanent magnets; and a coil unit formed from a plurality of magnetic excitation coils and disposed facing the magnet row. The coil unit is disposed such that, in the first direction, at least a part of the coil unit is always positioned between the pair of sliders within the region in which the first and second plate members are capable of relative movement.
