Abstract:
This protection member has: a plurality of blocks that hold a superconducting wire (linear material) so as to surround the circumference of the same; and a wire fitted in the plurality of blocks. Each of the blocks includes: a holding space for holding the superconducting wire; a ceiling part that covers the holding space; a bottom part that is located opposite to the ceiling part with the holding space therebetween; and a sidewall part that is continuous to each of the ceiling part and the bottom part. In one of the ceiling part, the bottom part, and the sidewall part, a groove which extends in the extension direction of the wire and in which the wire can be fitted is formed. The plurality of blocks are linked together by the wire fitted in the groove. An opening in communication with the holding space is formed opposite to the sidewall part. The opening extends across the plurality of blocks in the extension direction of the wire.
