Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a linear member that is also supple. The present invention is a linear member, wherein first - fourth helicates (11-14), in which multiple wires (1) are wound helically so as to comprise an internal space and leave gaps (2) between the respective wires (1) in the axial direction, are multiply layered radially. The number of layers, the pitch of the respective wires in each layer, and the helical winding angle of the respective wires of the respective layers are determined so that in a tension test of displacement with respect to a test force, the displacement (d) at half test force (f), which is half of the maximum test force (F) at which said linear member ruptures, is 25% - 35% of the displacement (D) at said maximum test force (F).
