Abstract:
[Problem] To propose a linear motion and rotation detector with which an increase in size in the linear motion direction can be suppressed, and the origin position of which can be detected easily. [Solution] A linear motion and rotation detector 7 includes a cylindrical magnetic scale 8 which moves linearly and rotates, a first magnetic detecting element 41 for linear motion position detection, a second magnetic detecting element 42 for rotational position detection, and an optical sensor 10. The magnetic scale 8 is provided on a circumferential surface thereof with a lattice-shaped magnetized pattern 37 in which S poles and N poles are arranged alternately in the axial direction X, and S poles and N poles are magnetized alternately around an axis L. The first magnetic detecting element 41 and the second magnetic detecting element 42 are disposed facing the magnetized pattern 37. A reflection pattern 38 for detecting the origin position is provided on the outer surface of the magnetized pattern 37. The linear-motion position and the rotational position can be detected by means of the first magnetic detecting element 41 and the second magnetic detecting element 42 which are caused to oppose the same magnetized pattern 37. The origin position can be detected by using the optical sensor 10 to detect inspecting light that has been reflected by the reflection pattern 38.
